Judge refuses to enjoin solar thermal project

A California federal judge Thursday refused to grant environmental group Western Watersheds Project (WWP) an order to block construction of a solar thermal power plant in the Mojave Desert because of its impact on desert tortoises and other wildlife.

WWP claimed during a hearing yesterday that they learned of an increased number of  desert tortoises in the vicinity of the project site, but U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee failed to grant the motion for an injunction. Click here to view WWP's complaint.
