Malaysia Committed in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Malaysia aims to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions intensity of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 45 percent, by the year
2030.
The government in submitting its climate change action plan to the UN Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), stated that it was pleased to
communicate its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), together
with relevant clarifying information.

MIDA Calls for Boost of Renewable Energy to Power Capacity Mix
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida)
hopes the contribution of renewable energy (RE) to the country’s electricity
generation to increase to five per cent this year from two per cent at present.
Its Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Phang Ah Tong said
the number of RE production sources was not encouraging as the country awaited
the feed-in tariff (FiT) policy.

Malaysia drafts renewable energy efficiency law
She said that discussions were currently underway with stakeholders and industry players before the Energy Efficiency Bill is tabled in Parliament.
"The law will be looking at the use of renewable and efficient energy by the industries including the construction sector," she told reporters after officiating the two-day 3rd Tropical Subtropical Green Building Alliance Conference here on Wednesday.

Borneo: Legislations for Renewable Energy Act 2011 being worked out
MIRI: Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water is now going full speed in making the necessary preparations and formulation of subsidiary legislations to the Renewable Energy Act 2011.
Its minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin yesterday said the Act was an important piece of legislation that would create an environment conducive for renewable energy to grow in an effective and sustainable manner.
